“Campaign for me. My symbol will be a spanner. I just want to speak my mind. If I have opposed you and you are from another tribe it is not because you are from a different area,” he said.

He stated that the issues affecting Kenyan are far reaching and went beyond tribe or social status.

“If even if you look at the issues affecting this nation like those of the youth unemployment, use of SME, they do not know tribe. The same hunger that is biting people in Gatundu is the same one that is biting someone else in Mombasa, Kisumu or wherever there is,” he said.

The news will sound a big warning to Deputy President William Ruto who is banging on getting support from Mt. Kenya region in his bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kuria is a key friend to the DP and is one of his point men in central Kenya. But the revelation will mean that Ruto needs a new strategy.

Kuria believes that he can win the presidency owing to his good record in Gatundu South.

“Three years after I went to parliament, is when we went for the elections on August 8. I had six opponents against me and I won by 93 percent. I know my stuff and I do not believe in losing. I am very poor at that,” he stated.

He also talked about his relationship with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga whom he described as a ‘very good friend of his.’
