A gallant police officer has received accolades from Kenyans after he rescued a man from two con men in an act of professionalism.
The officer, Joash Ombati, was on manning a bank in Westlands when he saw a man being tossed out of a speeding vehicle.
He boarded a waiting taxi and gave chase where other than apprehending the two suspects, he also recovered Sh400,000, part of what the victim had parted with.
“The man was shouting wezi, wezi (thieves, thieves),” the officer reported.
Amos Charo, the victim had moved from Voi to Nairobi according to police hoping to buy cheap construction materials from people he had interacted with on an online marketing platform.
But the probable sellers turned out to be con men, up to steal from gullible Kenyans. The officer fired eight rounds of ammunition during his attempt to apprehend the suspects.
None was injured and in a country where cases of firearm misuse by police are rampant, Kenyans on social media seemed fascinated.
The two suspects are set to be charged with robbery with violence charges. Here are some sentiments as shared by Kenyans on various social media platforms;
