Man arrested for defrauding Kenyans through fake D.O.D tenders

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday arrested a man who had impersonated himself as a Department of Defence (D.O.D) colonel to con Kenyans money.

Mr.Erick Otieno Atanga has been presenting himself as Colonel Kiprotich of D.O.D and defrauding people by selling them fake D.O.D tenders.

Mr Otieno is set to  be charged today Thursday with obtaining money by false pretences.

The posting of the arrest information by DCI Kenya saw a heartfelt Kenyan urge the police to extend their investigations to another man by the name Kelvin Mutua who allegedly present himself as working for D.OD to defraud Kenyans.

Cases of Kenyans being defrauded have gone high recently, with the latest being witnessed from online businesses.

On Thursday morning police from Parklands police station arrested two men who had conned another man a sum of money amounting to Ksh.732,000 after they meet via an online business platform dubbed OLX.

The men had alleged to be selling steel bars through OLX only for a deal to turn sour when they met at their agreed meeting point in Westlands.
