Excited Gor Mahia coach jets off

Kenya Premier League Champions Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr has left the country travelling back to UK  to spend sometime with his family two months before the new league kicks off.

Kerr, who has won two league title since joining K’Ogalo, has told Goal that he already misses Kenya because ‘it is my second home.’ His departure comes just a day after Kenyan Premier League released fixtures for the new 2018/19 season.

Gor Mahia will start their title campaign with an away match against Bandari at Mbaraki Stadium on December 8. However, K’Ogalo will also play in the season curtain raiser, with the FKF Shield Cup winner between Kariobangi Sharks and Sofapaka on December 2.

“I miss Nairobi already because it is my second home but I have to go as I have to watch two matches, Hull City against Preston and then Everton v Crystal Palace.”

Kerr is also expected to lead Gor Mahia when they take on Everton in a friendly away at Goodison Park. On the friendly, he said, “I already have my squad and they will meet me in the UK.”

Gor Mahia will represent the country in Caf Champions League next season.

KPL implements new league format as K’Ogalo tactician says his players are not ready for the new season.
The new Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season kicks off on December 8 but Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr is not a happy man.

Reason? Gor Mahia players have not had time to rest after a tough season and the coach believes the early kick off is likely to affect his side.

Gor Mahia open their title campaign on the first day of the new season away to last season’s runner-up Bandari.

A week earlier, Gor Mahia would have played the winner of this weekend’s Gotv shield in the Super Cup, which is the season opener.

“Last year we gave our players a six-week break after which we went for pre-season which was fantastic. We will not be able to do the same this time round and it will affect us a lot,” he complained.
