The recent transfer speculation at Arsenal against the backdrop of a stellar run has revolved almost exclusively around the seemingly departing Aaron Ramsey.

The Welshman’s upcoming end of contract has tainted an absolutely stunning campaign on multiple fronts under new manager Unai Emery, with Ramsey almost certain to leave at the end of the season after a decade at the club.

However something to give Arsenal fans something to cheer during this hiatus from the Premier League whilst the focus turns international, is the development of two very intriguing transfer targets that will hopefully eradicate the frustration felt with struggling to retain Ramsey’s service.

The two new players who have appeared on the Gunners’ radar are Rennes winger Ismaïla Sarr and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz, as Emery looks to bolster his already fairly impressive squad.

According to The Sun, the North London club’s head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat, has identified the two as future first-teamers and will looking to bring them to the English capital in the near future.

With Sarr, the Sengalese has previously been a target for Barcelona, and with Rennes aware of the growing interest in the 20-year-old left-winger, are looking to profit.

The Saint-Louis born Sarr has featured in all nine Ligue 1 games so far for Les Rouges et Noirs this season, bagging two goals and and assist. He also scored on his debut in the Europa League against Czech Republic side FK Jablonec.

Havertz meanwhile, still incredibly only 19-years-old, has already made 73 first-team appearances for Leverkusen, registering 12 goals and 18 assists, and would surely be a major coup for Arsenal. The youngster, who was given his debut international cap for Germany just last month has already scored four goals in ten appearances this term.

Chief Scout Mislintat may be the most successful acquisition in the later years of former manager Arsene Wenger’s reign; the German replaced long-starring servant Steve Rowley with the reputation of pinpointing some of the finest talent to grace the Bundesliga.

The list of talent Mislintat is credited with discovering is absolutely astonishing: Robert Lewandowski, Shinji Kagawa, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Ousmane Dembele all arrived at Dortmund’s Westfalenstadion due to Mislintat’s keen eye.

Arsenal fans will now certainly hope that if their new pursuit is successful, that ultimately either or both Sarr and Havertz will go on to emulate those aforementioned stars at the Emirates.
