Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is set to be investigated by the England Football Association following comments he made to a camera television during his side’s comeback against Newcastle United.
The Special One was seen walking down the tunnel as he made remarks towards the camera which has been interpreted as being offensive. On Saturday United found themselves two goals down in the opening ten minutes but three second-half goals from Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez sealed a victory for the Red Devils.
Mourinho also made a gesture with his right hand while speaking, pointing his little finger. In his post-match conference, when asked what the gesture means, he said, “It is a finger. Smaller than the others, but it is a finger.”
Should his comments be found offensive, insulting or abusive, the former Chelsea boss can be issued with a touchline ban. However, there is no timescale for a decision on whether to charge the United boss.
