Thika: Former Finance Officer goes into hiding.”EACC moves in to Arrest

Image result for dci kenyaDetectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested Thika Technical Training Institute principal and five other officials over misappropriation of money.

In a tweet on Sunday, the DCI said that the officials will be arraigned on Monday to be charged with misappropriation and embezzlement of public funds after they facilitated irregular payments worth Sh27 million.

 

They are: Mary Mumbua Kyengo Micheni (principal), former principals Jefferson Kariuki and John Mwangi, ex-finance officer Samuel Gakumo, Internal Auditor Johnson Kihumba Ichugu and Eunice Njuguna Wairimu (Ministry of Education Auditor, Thika).

“The Technical Institute had been nominated to spearhead the #BigFour on Technical Innovation in ICT, but the donor and government funds were misappropriated for personal use,” the agency wrote.

DCI Director George Kinoti, according to the tweet, has urged public officers to obey sober management guidelines in order to facilitate the country’s industrialization efforts.
