Sharon’s Family Differ Over Place of Burial

Sharon Otieno’s family might have already settled on the burial date but clearly not on her final resting place. Divisions have emerged in her family with majority advocating for her to be buried at her grandfather’s place with the other section led by her uncle Joshua Okong’o pushing for her final resting place to be at her estranged husband’s home.

According to Mr. Okong’o, Sharon, who died last month, was married before she knew Governor Okoth Obado and only separated in January but that was a small thing.

“I want everybody to know that Sharon was a married woman and she separated with her husband in January,” he said. “The husband has never appeared in this home but we need him because Sharon will not be buried here due to our cultural beliefs,” said Okong’o who is a brother to Sharon’s mother.

Mr.Okong,0 cited Luo traditions demanding that she be interred in the home where she had children. Sharon’s family seem to have been infuriated these remarks. The family has been avoiding questions surrounding her past relationship and the kids sired in that affair.

Sharon will be buried  on October 18, as her family denied claims it had requested for upkeep from the Migori County government. The budget for her funeral has been put at 1 million shillings due to the large number of guests expected.
