One of Jacque Maribe’s  celebrity friend came out to defended her friend following the woes she is currently facing.

Fanaka CEO Terryanne Chebet over weekend urged her Instagram followers not to be judgmental on the murder charges hanging over Maribe, in a subtle defense to her troubled friend.

And on Monday, Chebet denounced rumours on social media that she has been summoned by police for questioning in connection to Maribe’s arrest.

Chebet is among the circle of close friends in Maribe’s life, having been part of her highly publicized engagement to Joseph Irungu aka Jowi together with popular Hot 96 presenter Shix Kapyenga and TV director Monica Kiragu.

Jowi engaged Maribe after few months of dating and was arrested last week in connection to the gruesome Monica Kimani’s murder.

Maribe was arrested over the weekend after a series of questioning and house searches by the police.

Chebet on Sunday shared a caption in a subtle support to her friend writing; “Here’s to a blessed week to you all. ❤ Let us show a little more kindness, a lot less judgement. ??.”

Maribe’s other close friends include radio presenter Shix Kapyenga, TV director Monica Kiragu and former presenter Kirigo Ngarua. None of them has come out to show support of their friend so far.

The five friends have been pictured celebrating together including Maribe’s engagement party and Chebet’s birthday in Mombasa.

Kiambu Principal Magistrate Justus Kituku on Monday allowed police to hold Ms Maribe for 11 more days at Gigiri Police Station in the capital Nairobi as they investigate the case.

The court had ordered a 10-day detention (an earlier version of this story indicated as such) but revised it to 11 after it was established that October 10 is a holiday on which courts do not transact business.

Detectives brought Ms Maribe to court at 8.30am and locked her up at the cells as she waited for her date with destiny.

She was taken to court a few minutes after 9am, with State prosecutors making an application to extend her lock-up as they investigate the murder that has also seen the detention of her fiancé Joseph Kuria Irungu.

The prosecutors, led by Assistant Deputy Director of Prosecutions Jacinta Nyamosi, had asked Mr Kituku to allow police to detain the journalist for another 14 days, saying the charges she was facing were serious.
