Yerry Mina’s Everton debut faces a further delay after he suffered a foot injury in training.

The Colombian defender is yet to start for his new club since joining from Barcelona in the summer, but fears that he had suffered a new metatarsal break have been allayed by Toffees boss Marco Silva.

The Portuguese has, however, ruled him out for the visit of Fulham on Saturday.

“Two days ago he suffered a stamp on his foot in a moment with Bernard,” Silva said at his Friday press conference.

“It was painful in that moment. He stopped (training) yesterday and today. We hope next week he will start to work with the team. It is nothing serious.”

Silva welcomed goalkeeper Jordan Pickford’s new deal, and said: “Of course it is important for us to keep our best players, and you are speaking about the number one of the (England) national team.

“Last season he performed, he did a very, very good World Cup, and he is a key player in our squad.”

Silva added that he thinks Pickford “could become a world star goalkeeper in the future”.

The press conference also saw Silva asked about playing Richarlison in a central position.

And the boss said: “He could be one of the strikers. It is possible, everything is possible. This week I can tell you he worked some moments as a striker. It is up to me to decide tomorrow.”
