Double charge! Why Obado’s case may take longer

Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s case could take more time as the prosecution now wants him charged with the murder of the unborn infant who was stubbed to death alongside Sharon Otieno.

On Tuesday, the prosecution said it will amend the charge sheet and add a charge of murdering the seventh-month unborn baby, which DNA tests confirmed was Governor Obado’s.

State lawyer Alexander Muteti told the court that life begins at conception, hence, the infant’s life was also cut short during the gruesome murder.

A post-mortem conducted by government pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor revealed that Sharon, who was student at Rongo University, was stabbed eight times and died from excessive bleeding.

The hearing into Obado’s bail application was just concluded on Tuesday evening and the court ordered that Obado should be detained for two more days awaiting Bail ruling on Thursday 27th 2018.

Obado has been behind bars since last week Friday and his detention now adds up to six days in police cells.
