Jurgen Klopp claims the FA “must hope” that no English side gets through all their competitions this season as it makes the fixture schedule “impossible” to deal with.
The Reds play Chelsea on Wednesday evening in the Carabao Cup before they face Maurizio Sarri’s men again over the weekend in the Premier League.
And Klopp has hinted that Liverpool, who have won all seven of their matches in all competitions this season, are involved in too many competitions to handle.
“With the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, Europe… the FA must hope nobody gets through all the competitions because it’s impossible to deal with it,” Klopp told reporters.
On their double header with Chelsea, Klopp added: “We should completely ignore the game on Saturday. It’s a complete coincidence we play them again, it’s a different competition.
“(League Cup) is a competition we like. We showed that in my first season. It’s a difficult draw for both teams.
“It’s not a competition where it only gets less easy in the semi-finals. It’s a home game, floodlights, it’s a very strong side (Chelsea).”
