KPL week 31: Thika in serious trouble while Mathare’s winless run continues

The Kenyan Premier League saw a total of 18 goals scored on match day 31. Bandari put three past a woeful Nakumatt while Wazito and Zoo Kericho shared the spoils in a six-goal thriller. Here is the KPL week 31 review…

Bandari 3-1 Nakumatt FC 

William Wadri opened the scoring for Bandari FC early in the first half but Joe Waithira leveled matters after the breather. Felly Mulumba scored from the spot to restore Bandari’s lead and Shaban Kenga completed the job with a fine strike.

Posta Rangers 0-1 Vihiga United

Amos Kigadi once again rescued Vihiga United as his header with three minutes to stoppage time ensure Vihiga United secure three points at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

 Sony Sugar 1-1 Chemelil Sugar 

Justine Monda gave the visitors an early lead in Awendo but Stephen Onyango equalised to ensure the two sides share spoils in a highly-contested sugar belt derby.#

Nzoia Sugar FC 1-0 Thika United

Festus Okiring scored from the spot in the 35th minute to condemn Thika United to their 18th loss of the season and dampen the team’s survival chances.

The team is at the bottom of the log with 23 points from 31 matches and will face Chemelil Sugar FC, Zoo FC and Bandari FC in its last matches of the season.

Tusker FC 2-2 Mathare United 

Youngster Cliff Nyakeya scored a brace for the Slum Boys as they nearly upset Tusker FC at the Ruaraka Ground before second-half substitute Sidney Ochieng rescued a point for them in the 83rd minute. Timothy Otieno had scored Tusker’s other goal just before the break.

Wazito FC 3-3 Zoo FC

Michael Madoya scored a brace at the Camp Toyoyo to take his season tally to 13 goals so far while Nicholas Kipkirui scored the other for Zoo FC as they drew 3-3 with relegation candidate Wazito FC.

Simon mburu, Anthony Njeru and John Mutua scored Wazito’s goals. They are second bottom in the log with 28 points from 31 matches and will take on Kariobangi Sharks, Bandari FC and Sony Sugar in their last league matches this season.
