Here is why Hazard struggled against West Ham

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has admitted that Eden Hazard struggled in the 0-0 draw to West Ham United on Sunday 23rd September pointing that it was because Olivier Giroud received little service.

Despite dropping their first points in the English Premier League, Chelsea still maintains their unbeaten record in the league, sitting third with 16 points. Just like Chelsea, Hazard has started the season with a bang scoring five goals and providing two assists but struggled in the game against The Hammers.

When asked if Hazard had more attacking intent against West Ham, Sarri replied, “Not in the first half. Better in the second half. It was very difficult to play inside. They were cutting off very well every kind of pass for Giroud. We needed two wingers, I think. Hazard did very well in the last 25 minutes, more on the right than the left, but it was really very difficult today for the striker and it was very difficult for the two wingers.”

Giroud also struggled in the game having just 24 touches before being withdrawn for Alvaro Morata in the 65th minute.
