Arsenal legend urges Manchester United to stick with Alexis Sanchez despite long goal drought

Ray Parlour has urged Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho to stick with Alexis Sanchez despite his six-month goal drought.

The Chilean forward has now gone 831 Premier League minutes without a goal after drawing another blank in  Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Wolves. His last Premier League goal came against Swansea on March 31. But has only scored three goals since  joining the Red Devils from Arsenal  in January.

But Gunners legend Parlour believes the winger will come good in a United shirt and says it’s just a matter of time until the Chile international is back among the goals again.

Parlour said,  “There is no doubting his ability, he’s unbelievable, I watched him so many times when he played for Arsenal. He can turn a game on his own, that’s how good he is, but it’s how you get the best out of him. I am not blaming Jose, but when you look at it, Sanchez and Lukaku can be an unbelievable partnership on paper, but it’s just about getting them performing together. I am sure Man United fans were very excited about signing Sanchez, but it just hasn’t worked out for him yet.”

Ray Parlour  however is confident Sanchez will find his shooting boots for United.

He continued by saying, “There’s still time. He needs to get a little bit of confidence back to his game, and then I’m sure he’ll end up being a great signing for Manchester United. The goal drought is a bit worrying. A couple of efforts over the weekend weren’t good enough for a player of Sanchez’s quality. But he’s a player who will know he’s going through a bad time and he will keep working hard on the training field. Sooner or later things will turn around for him!”
