A former England star, Jamie Carragher, has described Chelsea striker, Olivier Giroud as one of the ‘most underrated’ players in the English Premier League (EPL).
Giroud signed for the Blues in a £21million deal from Arsenal in the January transfer window.
The France international scored 5 goals in 18 games in all competitions in the second half of the 2017-18 season to help the Stamford Bridge club win the FA Cup.
Carragher, however, believes that Giroud has been underrated, even though he won the 2018 FIFA World Cup with France, adding that the former Arsenal star was fantastic.
“I have always felt that Giroud was one of the most underrated players in the Premier League, even when he was at Arsenal,” Carragher said.
“He is not world class even though he has now won the World Cup, he is just short of that.
“But whether it’s as a second striker or as a first striker as he may now be at Chelsea, he’s a fantastic player and Hazard speaking like that about him shows what he thinks too.”
Giroud scored 105 goals in 253 games in all competitions during his five and half seasons with Arsenal.
The 31-year-old hopes to feature when Chelsea clash with West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday.
