Police have been recently gunning down members of criminal gangs in the coastal region of Kenya as high level of insecurity continue beefing up in the area.
On Monday 17th Sept 2018 two suspected members of a criminal gang were gunned down by Police near Kongowea market in Mombasa county.
Police in Nyali are reported to have pounced on the duo as they attempted to rob residents few meters from the market.
Mombasa police boss Johnston Ipara who confirmed the incident alleged that the deceased were linked to the killing of a peace committee member stationed in Kisauni.

Reports have it that most of this criminals are young people aged 18 years and below, who have dropped out of school and mostly unemployed.
One thing that you have to know is that most criminals in Mombasa are under 18 yrs. They rob,kill and maim,they are young and looks very innocent. When the police confronts them they fight back. Mombasa is dangerous because of these boys.

Unemployment in the area makes them idle, thus turning to drug abuse which leads them to crime acts.
Most residents have been heard urging the police to use an alternative means to deal with insecurity in the area rather than gunning them down, since most of the gang members are their own sons.
