Oxlade-Chamberlain gives latest update on knee injury

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain insists he is in ‘good spirits’ as he continues his rehabilitation from his long-term knee injury. The Liverpool star has been sidelined since being forced off in April’s Champions League semi-final first-leg against Roma after a strong challenge involving Aleksandar Kolarov.

His progress hit a cruel stumbling block over the summer as it was confirmed he was likely to miss much of the 2017/2018 campaign.

A lengthy spell out of action perhaps couldn’t have arrived at a worst time, with the Englishman having arguably been in the form of his life following his summer 2017 move to Anfield.

Alex said: “It is a very serious injury. It can happen to any of us at any time and that’s obviously something that’s never easy to deal with and get over.

“I’m trying to stay positive, that’s the sort of character I am. I feel that’s the best way to move things forward. I’m in good spirits and I’m progressing for sure.”
