Fuel prices have triggered debate among Kenyans and most politicians dismissing the enacted VAT by the Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich.
Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja was yesterday trolled by Kenyans on Twitter following a tweet to President Uhuru Kenyatta where he went ahead asking him to exempt the 16 percent VAT.
In his tweet he said, “Dear @UKenyatta kindly assent to the Amendment exempting fuel from VAT. #PunguzaBeiYaMafuta the gain in tax revenue is much less than the goodwill of Kenyans in the fight against corruption (where we are losing much more). If anything, we should entirely do away with VAT on fuel”

Kenyans went savage on Sakaja trolling him following his statement.
Here are some reactions

Do you know the difference between the Senate and the National Assembly? ?

@SakajaJohnson but the postponement was done when you were an MP. I stand to be guided though.

@SakajaJohnson your proposal should have applied then. However postponement isn’t a solution though regardless of time.

What you’re asking @UKenyatta is to sign a postponement to 2020,by then it’ll be too close election 2022 and too hot to handle #zeroRateFuel

am totally against this postponement I’d rather a lasting solution be implemented starting with having a fixed politicians salary ceiling & use % to share from that budget its simple for the Government knows revenue they intend to collect spread it out. @IEAKwame & team can asist

a serious government just need to look into what Thomas Sankara did for Upper Volta years ago in just 3 years much was achieved

Bw. Senator @SakajaJohnson I beg to differ. Even thou VAT is a cruel ngeta tactic, it’s the only clever ploy by the gov to get money from the citizenry. If only @UKenyatta can make pipo pay their taxes, VAT won’t be necessary! But he can’t and won’t listen.
