Deputy President William Ruto was on the receiving end of the wrath of Kenyans on Twitter on Monday as the issue of fuel tax continues to elicit different emotions from Mwananchi.
Speaking at the Kajiado Goat auction, Ruto said that taxes should be paid for the country to develop.
“Tuungane ili tujenge taifa letu la Kenya- Tutatafuta ushuru, kodi kutoka kwa wananchi lakini tutaketi chini ili tukubaliane kwani kila mmoja wetu anajua lazima tufanye maendeleo na hii yote inahitaji pesa ambayo inatoka kwa ushuru wa taifa letu la Kenya”
Even though the DP said that the the fuel tax will be reviewed to cushion Mwananchi, some Kenyans were quick to ask him if he pays taxes himself.
Some went ahead to advise the government to collect the loot that was stolen from NYS Season 1 and 2 and other corruption scandals and use the money for development.
The following are some of the reactions from Kenyans on Twitter.
Do you even pay your taxes? Let’s start with you

Good late. You’re busy on 2022 campaigns yet Kenyans are languishing in poverty. Why? Why? Why? Imposing taxes on Mobile money and fuel products is the law cost livelihood you said in your manifesto.
