British Prime Minister Theresa May is proving nothing will break her stride, joining a group of scouts for a traditional dance on the last leg of her tour of Africa.

Ms May’s dance moves became fodder for online jokes earlier this week after footage emerged of her dancing with children at a South African school.

Many on social media likened her moves to the dancing of fictional character Elaine Benes from Seinfeld.

But she seemingly hasn’t let the merciless scrutiny stop her from trying again — and even debuting a few new moves.

Ms May joined Kenyan scouts at the United Nations’ Nairobi campus for the launch of an initiative to inspire young people to combat single-use plastic pollution.

It seemed a safely dance-free engagement but as Ms May was led out of the building, alongside UN Environment Chief Erik Solheim, she was invited to join the scouts in a dance.

What ensued was Ms May — who apparently won’t shy away from a challenge — attempting to mirror their motions.

First, the footage shows her giving it her all as she extends her arms high — as if she were reaching for groceries on a high shelf, albeit mechanically.

She then settles into the groove and begins to shift her weight from side to side before launching into a sequence of slow motion spins and shoulder shrugs.

Second time around, many people have come to the defence of Ms May, while others have accused her of trying to deflect more important issues.

Ms May has laughed off the criticism, joking: “I think the chances of Strictly Come Dancing [UK version of Dancing With the Stars] coming calling are pretty minimal”.

After dancing with the British leader, Kenyan scouts showed her their inventive takes on reusing plastic, including a soccer ball made of plastic bags which Ms May later enthusiastically kicked.

Earlier on Thursday, May met with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta as she rounded off the last leg of her three-stop tour of Africa aimed at strengthening trade ties between the UK and the continent.
