In an Interview with Liverpool star Sadio Mane has come out this week. Mane has spoken to the Premier League Today show.
Undoubtedly the highlight of the Mane interview was when the Liverpool forward confirmed that Man United tried to sign him.
Man United’s interest came under the reign of Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford. Mane has told the following story:
The wrong team wanted me – Manchester United! I spoke with Van Gaal, and they even made an offer. But for me it was not the right club.
Mane has started the season strongly for the Reds. The Senegalese international opened with a brace against West Ham. Mane followed that up with another goal against Crystal Palace.
Pressure has been increased on Mane to perform this season after the arrival of Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke.
Liverpool return to Premier League action on Saturday lunchtime. The Reds head to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester.
Leicester will be without Jamie Vardy who is still suspended following his dismissal against Wolves.
Liverpool have a 100% record so far this season.
Mané represented Senegal at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and scored a goal in each of the nation’s opening two games, 2–0 wins against Tunisia and Zimbabwe.After a goalless draw in the quarter-final clash against Cameroon, he missed in the penalty shootout as Senegal were eliminated.
In May 2018, he was named in Senegal’s 23 man-squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He scored the opening goal in a 2–2 draw against Japan in the group stage.
Liverpool made it all the way to the final last season only to be beaten 3-1 by Real Madrid in Kiev. Liverpool shone throughout and were the top-scorers of the tournament with 47 throughout the competition.
They dispatched Roma and Manchester City on the way to the final but a couple of Loris Karius errors handed the trophy to Real Madrid for a third successive time.
But having made it all the way to the final last season, Mane believes Liverpool can repeat their feat this time around.
