High blood pressure symptoms can be difficult to spot, but there are some warning signs of hypertension to look out for. You should never ignore this symptom on your face – it could cause “sudden death”.

High blood pressure affects more than 25 per cent of all adults in the world.The condition, which is also known as hypertension, puts extra stress on blood vessels and vital organs.

High blood pressure is often known as ‘the silent killer’, as the only way to diagnose the condition is to get your blood pressure checked.

But, if you have extremely high blood pressure, you could have a numbness on your face. If blood pressure reaches very high levels, it can cause some physical symptoms, according to medical Experts.

The symptoms can get progressively worse as blood pressure rises, and may result in sudden death, it warned. One of the symptoms to be aware of is a weakness, or numbness on the face.

The sensation could spread to the hands or feet, the medical website warned. You should speak to a doctor straight away if you ever have a numbness of the face, it added.

“Called the ‘silent killer’, hypertension rarely produces overt symptoms and can be deadly if left uncontrolled,” it said.

“When not controlled blood pressure levels can rise to the point that you start to experience physical symptoms.

All adults over 40 years old should check their blood pressure at least every five years. Speak to a GP or pharmacist to have your blood pressure checked.

You could lower your risk of high blood pressure by making some diet or lifestyle changes. Cutting back on the amount of salt in your diet is one of the best ways to avoid high blood pressure.

Aim to eat less than 6g of salt in a single day – the equivalent to about a teaspoonful.
