Beatrice Marshall comes to the defence of Olive Burrows

Beatrice Marshall speaks on Kenyan TV stations favouring lighter skin after Olive Burrows’ attack

Former KTN news anchor Beatrice Marshall has come out to defend Kenyan TV stations after they were accused of ‘sacrificing black beauty at the vanity altar of white skin.’

In the same breath, she also defended Olive Burrows who was recently accused of lightening her skin.

This was by lawyer Donald Kipkorir who tweeted out photos of NTV’s Olive Burrows and commented that she was lighter at NTV unlike when she was at Capital.

“Burrows Kalekye Olive then at Capital FM & Now at Nation TV… Do Kenyan TV Stations demand skin colouration as part of the requirement for employment? Why do we sacrifice Black Beauty at the Vanity Altar Of White Skin? Have a Blessed Sunday.” He tweeted.

Speaking in the defense of Kenyan stations and Olive, Beatrice who now works at CGTN tweeted that Kenyan TV also has gorgeous women who are darker skinned like Lillian Muli, Yvonne Okwara and Anne Kiguta.

She also went on to disagree with Kipkorir’s insinuation that Olive had tweaked her skin by explaining that Olive’s lighter complexion could be attributed to the lighting in the studio which makes one look lighter.
