Mathare United ace eyeing win over Nakumatt

Chrispin Oduor believes the Round 27 clash against Nakumatt slated for Saturday at the Camp Toyoyo presents a perfect opportunity to bridge the five point gap with the top four.

The Slum Boys are ranked fifth in the log with 38 points, five behind fourth placed Sofapaka. They come up against a Nakumatt side they overcame 3-2 in the first leg.

Oduor, who was part of the 2008 title winning squad, is confident that they can cut that gap to only two points with victory tomorrow.

“In the first leg we scored early and it helped us to settle. After winning our last match we now have a rhythm and we want to take control very early.

“We have prepared well and we are ready to fight for the three points. They are a good side but if we keep working like we’ve done in recent matches then we will certainly get a good result,” opined a sanguine Oduor.

His individual performance has seen him top the assists chart at the club but his tally of 4 goals is a far cry from the 11 he scored last season. However after scoring in the 2-1 win over Kariobangi Sharks last time out, he is optimistic he will be on the score sheet against Nakumatt.

“There is no secret (about my performance). It’s all about working hard in training and carrying that to the pitch. Scoring in our last match certainly improved my confidence and I am heading into this one with renewed vigour. Hopefully I’ll score,” he added.
