Singer Pink forced to cancel Sydney show

Pink was forced to cancel the opening night of her Sydney Beautiful Trauma Tour dates, after coming down with a chest infection. The 38-year-old singer was advised by doctors to postpone her first of nine shows in the Australian city at the Qudos Bank Arena on Friday, much to the ‘frustration’ of the What About Us hitmaker. ‘Hi my Sydney friends. It is with great frustration that I bring you this news:( Friday’s show will be postponed. I was hoping a couple of days of rest would help me kick this sick, but not at the speed I was hoping for. I appreciate your well wishes and understanding + I’m sorry. [sic],’ she tweeted.

Pink asked followers from the city where the best place is to buy ‘wellness shots’ and ‘fresh juices’ to speed up her recovery, whilst asking whether or not she should use a Neti-Pot to relieve her sinuses. ‘Sydney friends: does anyone have a favorite place that makes wellness shots and fresh juices for when I get there? Thanks in advance. And how do we feel about Neti- pots. They scare me. [sic],’ she said.

Promoters Live Nation are working to reschedule the date and have reassured fans that the rest of the run ‘will not be affected’. They said in a statement: ‘Due to illness, Pink’s performance scheduled for this Friday night (3 August) at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena has been postponed. ‘Pink is suffering from an upper respiratory infection and has received medical advice that she should not perform in order to facilitate her recovery.

Pink had been spending time in Australia ahead of her concert but unfortunately was unable to make herself feel well enough to perform. She then asked local fans to recommend some juice bars to help her recover. Although she is unable to perform for Friday’s show, she has scheduled dates on Saturday 4, Monday 6, Tuesday 7, Thursday 9, Saturday 11, Sunday 12 and Friday 25 and Saturday 26. ‘Sydney friends:does anyone have a favorite place that makes wellness shots and fresh juices for when I get there? Thanks in advance. And how do we feel about Neti- pots. They scare me,’ she added.

The mum-of-two, who is married to Carey Hart, is understood to have contracted an upper respiratory infection and was told by doctors not to take to the stage on Friday. Pink announced her world tour for her Beautiful Trauma album but no European dates were added. Pink hasn’t been in the UK since her 2013 tour so UK fans are desperate for her to add European dates to the Beautiful Trauma tour, which has been extended until 2019.

They’ll just have to watch this space. Pink, whose real name is Alecia Beth Moore, and Carey have two children together – daughter Willow Sage Hart, seven, and son Jameson Moon Hart, one.

Pink began performing in Philadelphia clubs when she was about 14 years old. She adopted her stagename, “Pink”, around this time. She had that nickname for quite some time by that point, and initially it had been “a mean thing”.She had gotten that name from the character “Mr. Pink” in Quentin Tarantino’s film Reservoir Dogs.

Pink has said, “I was extreme. I went through phases from skateboarder, to hip-hopper, to rave child, to lead singer in a band. I did it all, and all at the same time.”

At 14, she was convinced to audition to become a member of the all-female group Basic Instinct, and earned a spot in the lineup. Ultimately, the group disbanded without releasing any material.At 16, Pink and two other teenage girls, Stephanie Galligan and Chrissy Conway, formed the R&B group Choice. A copy of their first song, “Key to My Heart”, was sent to LaFace Records in Atlanta, Georgia, where L.A.

Reid overheard it and arranged for the group to fly there so he could see them perform. After that, he signed them to a record deal. Since the three girls were under 18 at the time, their parents had to cosign the contract. The group relocated to Atlanta and recorded an album, which was never released, and “Key to My Heart” appeared on the soundtrack to the 1996 film Kazaam. During a Christmas party, Reid gave Pink an ultimatum: go solo or go home. Choice disbanded in 1998.
