More bad news for Chelsea as key defender considers future

Chelsea face further issues this summer, on the back of swapping managers and seeing their best players eyeing up other clubs.

Now, skipper Gary Cahill is considering his future according to Standard Sport, who think that the player is willing to leave in order to find a club where he can play more football.

Cahill has been on the sidelines in terms of Chelsea and also England in the last few months, and given he’s not getting any younger, the defender would rather move on and find a club where he’s playing week in, week out.

He has of course won the lot with Chelsea, and said moving on is something he’s thinking about.

Back in April, he said: “It’s been tough. It has been hard having to sit out massive games, watching us fall by the wayside and not being able to have a huge impact on that.

“People can argue that as captain you can still have an impact in the dressing room, but it’s difficult when you’re not playing in those big games.”

Chelsea of course face far bigger issues than losing Gary Cahill – they also need to worry about the futures of Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard, both of whom look like leaving the club this summer.

It’s certainly a huge blow, and the fact that Chelsea change their manager so much now looks like their players are being impacted as well – and are looking at clubs who can offer them Champions League football next season – which of course Chelsea are unable to do.
