Mourinho eyes double Croatian swoop

Manchester United are considering swooping for Croatia pair Ante Rebic and Ivan Perisic, according to a report in ‘The Sun’.

Both players played key roles in helping their country to the World Cup final in Russia, where they were eventually beaten by a strong France outfit.

According to the aforementioned source, those performances did not go unnoticed by United boss Jose Mourinho, who was working for ‘Russia Today’ as a pundit during the tournament.

Having added Diogo Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant to his squad this summer, Mourinho is now keen on an addition or two at the sharp end of the pitch, with Perisic and Rebic seen as prime candidates.

The Portuguese is a long-term admirer of Perisic, having pushed hard to sign the Inter Milan midfielder last summer, only to be frustrated in his pursuit.

However, it appears that he may well test the water once again this summer, as well as tabling a bid for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Rebic, with United said to be prepared to spend up to £92m on the pair.
