Liverpool have submitted a world record bid for AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker, according to Italian newspaper Il Messaggero.
The Reds are understood to tabled a bid worth €70m for the Brazilian; a fee which exceeds Gianluigi Buffon’s €52m world record move from Parama to Juventus back in 2001.
However, the Italian club are believed to be holding out for £80m – a fee that Liverpool are unwilling to pay.
Jurgen Klopp is looking to solve his goalkeeping problems with doubts over both Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet ahead of the new season.
The Reds are believed to have made their move to sign Alisson following months of speculation and the Brazilian having returned from the World Cup.
