AC Milan back in the Morata, Higuain conversations

AC Milan’s messy finances and ownership situation may have gotten them banned from UEFA competitions this season, but there is hope with a better future, with new and more solid ownership in place and a renewed intent to reinforce the team. One of those potential reinforcements is said to be Chelsea striker Álvaro Morata, who was heavily linked last summer, and is now back on their radar. In fact, according to Italian transfer oracles Alfredo Pedullà and Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan directors Marco Fassone and Massimiliano Mirabelli have made a “blitz” in London for the 25-year-old. The directors were in town on other business, but saw an opportunity to score a deal in case Morata does want to leave Chelsea (maybe not) or if Chelsea are indeed considering the throughly stupid idea of selling Morata to make room for Higuain (hopefully not) as apparently Sarri wants the club to do.

Incidentally, Milan have also been linked with Higuain, who’s been deemed surplus to requirements at Juventus thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival (but actually wants to stay). Juve may yet also drop back into the Morata conversation, so it’s all a big giant interconnected mess, as it so often seems to happen these days.
That said, there’s no reason to think Morata’s skills wouldn’t translate excellently into Sarri’s system. If he could make Dries Mertens into a goal machine, he surely could do it with Chelsea’s record signing. Let Milan and Juventus sort out the Higuain situation between themselves, and let us carry on with our current strike force.
