Former Real Madrid star desperate to see Ronaldo stay in Spain

Former Real Madrid star Michel Salgado is desperate to see Cristiano Ronaldo stay in Spain amid Juventus interest, claiming ‘it will hurt’ if he leaves. Five time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo has attracted heavy interest from Juventus since his exit from the World Cup and it is believed the Italians are negotiating an £88million deal with Madrid.

And Salgado, who lifted four La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues during his time at the Bernabeu, does not want to see Ronaldo depart as he is still ‘leaving his mark’ at Madrid. ‘Personally, if he is going, it will hurt me because I have been with him for six months,’ Salgado said on Monday. ‘He was leaving his mark in Real Madrid or he is still doing it, but I know him pretty much, and when he takes a decision he goes ahead no matter the consequences.

‘But, if Cristiano is not going, we will have him for the biggest moments because he is a phenomenon. But if he finally decides to go, we have to wish him all the best and thank him for everything. I am worried that he is going but that is a personal decision and lowering the release clause worried me as well.’
