Inter Milan have confirmed the signing of centre-half Stefan de Vrij on a free transfer from Serie A rivals Lazio. The 26-year-old has signed a five-year deal at the San Siro following the expiration of his contract at Lazio.
De Vrij – who has 36 caps for the Netherlands – is the fifth signing Inter have made in what is a busy summer for the Serie A side. Luciano Spalletti is looking to prepare his side for Champions League football after they qualified for the competition for the first time in six years.
Inter dramatically secured qualification for the Champions League on the final day of the Serie A season with a 3-2 win away to Lazio. De Vrij played a key role in his future side’s victory when he gave away a penalty, which Inter converted.
