Arsenal eyeing Mexico star

Arsenal have expressed interest in signing Miguel Layun this summer, according to reports. Layun, the versatile Porto player, joined Sevilla on loan in January, and they have until next Saturday to exercise their option to make the deal a permanent one.

However, Record in Portugal say that there is no indication in such an outcome happening, with Layun himself being quoted: “I believe that if they had this intention [to buy Layun] they would have already communicated with me and with my agent. However, the possibility of staying in Seville is not set aside; for me it would be very beautiful. ”

However, the same report indicates there are clubs from elsewhere across Europe who have targeted Layun. Layun, who has caught the eye playing for Mexico at the World Cup, is no stranger to English football. Layun helped Watford win promotion to the Premier League in 2015

The midfielder, who can also play in defence, joined Watford in January 2015, helping the Hornets win promotion from the Championship at the end of the 2014/15 campaign. He scored Watford’s first goal on their return to the Premier League, in a 2-2 draw at Everton in August 2015, but Layun was loaned out to Porto later that month, and he joined them permanent one year later.
