The architect of Switzerland’s victory against Serbia, Xherdan Shaqiri underlined the progress that his national team have made in recent years.
Stoke City striker, Shaqiri, was chosen as the man of the match revealed the secret of the win to growth of the national team players over the years.
“The players that we have play in Europe’s top level teams,” he said to reporters after the game.
“Despite going behind on the scoreboard, we kept calm and that’s something we wouldn’t have achieved two years ago. We’ve shown that we’ve grown, we got ourselves together and played as a team pulling in the same direction.”
