The Mexico football team provided the biggest upset of the FIFA World Cup 2018 so far after defeating defending champions Germany at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on Sunday by a 1-0 scoreline. Hirving Lozano scored the only goal of the match, slotting the ball past Manuel Neuer at his near post to hand his team the sensational win.
The result sent shockwaves across the footballing world, quite literally. Fans were left stunned by the El Tri’s aggressive display as they completely outran a sluggish German team that never really threatened to fight back. Such were the delirium levels in Mexico City, that the celebrations following Lozano’s goal triggered a mini-earthquake in the capital that was picked up by seismographs installed in the city.
