‘Walker Should have been Send Off

Former Man Utd ‘keeper Peter Schmeichel says Kyle Walker should have been sent off for the penalty he conceded against Tunisia’s Fakhreddine Ben Youssef on Monday.

The England defender was penalised for a challenge which saw him catch the face of the Tunisian player with his elbow, and the resulting penalty was converted by the North African outfit.

However, Schmeichel believes that the punishment for the incident was not harsh enough, and that Walker’s yellow card should have been upgraded.

“It was a penalty, there is no doubt about that. He actually hits him and he is very, very lucky to get away with a yellow card because according to the rules, if you hit someone with your elbow, you’re off – it’s a red card.” he told Russia Today.

Despite the first half challenge, the Dane is pleased that England managed to pull through and get a victory in Volgograd.

“I feel very happy for the England boys because if they hadn’t have gotten there, the next couple of days would have been terrible for them. They would have been crucified by the English media.”

“Harry Kane is the one guy they need the chances to fall for because he scores them.”
