Tunisia press reacts to heartbreaking defeat to England

There is plenty of frustration, disappointment and regret in Tunisia’s newspapers on Tuesday morning following their 2-1 defeat to England on Monday night. Esshafa called it a “loss that could have been avoided”, while Essabah says “Tunisia wastes precious draw with England in injury time” and blast a game plan which saw “a shaky defence and an isolated forward”.

Echourouk called Kane’s winner “a killer goal” but insists the country is “still hopeful”. On a state-run Tunisian radio, coach Nabil Maaloul said: “We had great difficulty dealing with the high balls due to the height and strength of the England players. We must put this match behind us and get started on preparations for the coming game with Belgium.”
