A rather ugly incident of mass shooting has engulfed FIFA World Cup 2018 when a gunman opened fire on a footy crowd watching Sweden vs South Korea game at a cafe in Malmo, Sweden, on Monday, according to a report in The Sun.

The firing led to a teenager dying, aged 18, and four others wounded after a shooter is said to have fired up to 20 bullets inside a coffee shop in downtown Malmo – which was screening Sweden’s opening Group F encounter against South Korea. Significantly, Swedish authorities have confirmed the incident is not terror-related.

“We have sealed off the area and are conducting interviews and will interview those who are injured if they can or are willing to speak,” police spokesman Stephan Soderholm said to The Sun.

Before news of the 18-year-old’s death was confirmed by Sweden’s police authorities, newspaper Sydsvenskan, a daily in Sweden, reported that three of those hurt were seriously injured.
