Anthony Martial’s agent Philippe Lamboley recently said that said months of negotiations over a new contract had failed to reach a successful conclusion and Martial had decided he wanted to leave Old Trafford.
However, it is understood senior figures at the club have no intention of releasing the player, who they signed from Monaco for £36m in September 2015.
Premier League side, Tottenham are known to be keen on Martial, although they have not made a bid for the 22-year-old, who failed to gain selection for the France World Cup squad.
Martial still has a year left on his current contract, which United have the option to extend by another season.
