Contrasting weather situation set to usher Super Eagles into Kaliningrad

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are likely to land in Kaliningrad today to a warm weather and warm welcome of the the people of the city who have been anticipating their arrival, but a sharp contrast is equally a possibility. Today’s weather here in Kaliningrad started with a chilly morning at 18 degrees celsius, followed by slight showers. However, at midday a warm sunshine lighted up the city. It rained again an hour later.

It is observed that Russians were particularly tickled with the prospect of enjoying a full warm Thursday, and possibly in the rest of the week. The weather here has been unstable as this reporter has experienced it since arrival on Tuesday. It has changed like the traffic lights on the roads of Kaliningrad, between a wintry 13 to 15 degrees celsius.

FIFA volunteer worker at the Kaliningrad Stadium, Gregoria Ekaterina, told reporters on Wednesday that the real warm summer weather was yet to be felt in the city, and the people were still eagerly anticipating it. “You can’t be sure about the weather in Kaliningrad these days,” she said. “We can have 10 degrees celsius now, but it goes to about 15 a few hours later. Just be handy with your coat, okay? I guess you’re not used to this kind of weather in your country.”
