Fabregas joins punditry team for World Cup

The BBC have added another notable name to their punditry ranks ahead of the World Cup, with Chelsea midfielder and 2010 winner Cesc Fabregas signed up to offer his insights after being overlooked by Spain coach Julen Lopetegui.

It was confirmed on Monday that Fabregas, a member of the dominant La Roja team that won three successive major tournaments between 2008-12, would be joining the likes of Gary Lineker, Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand, Alan Shearer, Phil Neville, Martin Keown, Pablo Zabaleta and Jurgen Klinsmann on the BBC team in Russia.

The double European champion is set to make his first studio appearance on Friday when Spain open their Group B campaign against neighbours Portugal at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi.
