With a little over a week to go before the start of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen has gone missing. Eriksen was nowhere to be seen when the Danes turned up for training on Wednesday.
However Eriksen’s absence is happily for a good reasons.
Back in December Christian Eriksen announced some amazing news on Instagram. The Danish playmaker posed with his long term partner Sabrina Kvist Jensen to reveal they are expecting a baby. The information reaching the Denmark camp revealed that Eriksen is now in Odense, which is where the birth will happen.
Denmark manager Age Hareide has told the press that Eriksen has been allowed to stay away from the camp until the baby is born. Tottenham’s Eriksen helped seal Denmark’s place in the World Cup as he scored a memorable hat-trick against Ireland in the playoffs.
Denmark take on Mexico in their final warm up game on Saturday in Brondby, while Eriksen is unlikely to feature in that game.
When it comes to the World Cup itself, the Danes have been paired with Peru, Australia and France.
