FIFA World Cup Russia 2018: A toxic World Cup for Iran

A ball hasn’t been kicked in the World Cup in Russia and yet the atmosphere in many of the dressing rooms is toxic.

From Argentina to Spain through to France and England, many have been involved in controversial instances in the lead up to the tournament.

Carlos Queiroz had to fight a lot to get the Iranian team to Russia.

The coach presented his resignation a year ago after seeing that several leaders of the local clubs refused to allow their players to prepare for the tournament.

Finally, the authorities of the Iranian Federation rejected his resignation and the coach continues to lead the team.
