Tunisia goalkeeper Mouez Hassen has been feigning injury to give his team-mates a chance to brake their Ramadan fast by drinking water and eating dates.
Calculating that the time of sunset – known as Iftar (breaking of the fast) – fell early in the second-half, goalkeeper Mouez Hassen feigned injury to ensure his team-mates could break their Ramadan fast in two friendly games last week.
During their first match against Portugal, Nice keeper Hassen went down in the 58th-minute with an ‘injury’, allowing the players to run over to the sidelines to eat dates and drink water.
Having trailed 2-1 at the time, Tunisia scored an equaliser six minutes later and went on to hold the European champions to a draw.
On Saturday, Hassen lay flat on his back in the 49th-minute, allowing his team-mates to again run over to the sidelines, where coaching staff had dates and water bottles at the ready once again.
That match would also finish 2-2, with the Eagles of Carthage perhaps benefiting from the nutrients at a crucial time.
