Antoine Griezmann has told his family and friends that he intends to stay at Atletico Madrid next season.
According to a Spanish outlet, Griezmann has communicated to his inner circle that he will remain at Atletico for another season, declining the opportunity to move to Barcelona.
Despite the fact that he has not yet made his decision public, it is reported that he has informed his family and friends that he will reject the interest of the La Liga champions.
It seems that the Frenchman made the decision on Saturday, as reported by ‘ABC’, who say that he will not make use of the £100 million release clause in his contract
The Frenchman will therefore remain under contract with Atletico, and will be paid €25m per year, becoming one of the highest paid players in Europe. Furthermore, his release clause will double, reaching €200m.
The forward believes he can still improve under Diego Simeone, who is reportedly one of the main factors behind his decision to stay in the Spanish capital.
