Nike have released a World Cup advert that includes one faithful nod to 1998, with Ronaldo making a cameo appearance to re-enact his ‘penalty’ miss in the airport departures queue.
Back in 1998, when Ronaldo was the team’s star, the advert ends with him dribbling past passengers and security guards to take aim at a ‘goal’ between two metal posts.
As everyone looks on, craning their necks in anticipation, Ronaldo’s shot clangs back off the post in a real head in hands moment.
It’s been faithfully recreated in the latest advert, the only difference being that Ronaldo is a little more rotund than he used to be.
‘This is Brazil. No fear! This jersey has history!’ he yells in the advert.
