Hummels confident Germany can do without Nuer, Boateng

Germany defender Mats Hummels believes that then World Cup defending champions will be to without Manuel Neuer and Jerome Boateng

Nuer and Boateng are working to be fit for the world cup with Neuer having been out of action since September due to a broken foot, while Boateng suffered a hamstring injury against Real Madrid in April.

Hummels admits the two are key but he is confident they can cope if they fail to make it.

“Both players are terrific, potentially the best [in their position]. Not having them on the field is a negative. But at the same time, it allows other players to step up and play that role. The potential for them to [recover in time to] play is still there,”Hummel said.
