Floods in Kenya since this March have claimed 132 lives and displaced 222,456 others. Kenyans need to exercise caution and extreme care during heavy rains in flood-prone areas.
The government has spent KSH 600 Million in feeding flood victims. They have distributed food worth KSH 600 Million and large quantities of essential medicine to prevent water-borne diseases.
Kenya Red cross said that the floods may also trigger or worsen outbreaks of disease such as malaria and cholera, warning that water sources have been contaminated and 33 health centres been destroyed along with homes, crops, irrigation systems and farm equipment, and roads and train lines.
