Gay Dating app Grindr shared information about users’ HIV status? Find Out

The popular hookup and dating app Grindr is under fire for sharing users’ disclosed HIV status.

The company says it has suspended the practice and the data was never sold, only provided to the companies in an effort to improve the app’s functionality for users.

Grindr chief technology officer Scott Chen said in a Tumblr post that sharing data with partners such as Apptimize was ‘industry practice’ and such steps were taken to protect people’s privacy.

Although, some people on social media were not satisfied by company’s justification and want authorities to take legal action against them.
