Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has arrived in Kibra to join other leaders in campaigning for Imran Okoth the party’s candidate for the November 7, Kibra by-election.
Odinga made a triumphant entry into Laini Saba Ground Kibra where he is expected to lead the party in popularizing Okoth’s candidature as the race nears its homestretch.
The ODM party top brass which includes Governors Hassan Joho, Amason Kingi and a host of other top ODM leaders are also expected at the venue to rally voters behind Imran Okoth who is facing stiff competition from other candidates.
“Tukutane Laini Saba on Sunday,” ODM Youth leader Benson Musungu posted on his Facebook page on Saturday. ODM MPs in Nairobi and from around the country are expected to attend the rally.
The Kibra race has been shaped as a battle between Raila Odinga and William Ruto as well as a test drive for the 2022 elections.
ODM candidate Imran Okoth is squaring it out with Jubilee’s McDonald Mariga and ANC’s Eliud Owalo who are believed to be formidable competitors.
Last week, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced that several polling centres that would be relocated after the by-election coincided with national examinations.
Olympic Secondary School polling station has been relocated to Ayany Primary School while voters at Mbagathi Road Primary will cast their ballots at Kenyatta Market Parking lot.
